Re-Entry Guidance – Hurricane Matthew

Evacuation orders and curfews may trigger re-entry concerns for businesses located in areas impacted by Hurricane Matthew.  With regard to re-entry, it is extremely important that individuals follow the instructions of local law enforcement and local elected officials, as they will determine when an area is safe enough for individuals to return.

In section 10 of Executive Order 16-230, the Governor outlined the re-entry process for individuals seeking to transport essential commodities to areas impacted by Hurricane Matthew.  When seeking re-entry under that process, those individuals can greatly assist local officials by possessing the following documents:

  1. Driver’s License
  2. Proof of Employment (such as Employer credentials, letter on employer letterhead)
  3. Demonstrated Need to enter area (such as a work order or inventory list)

In order to ensure that you receive updated information regarding the transportation and distribution of essential commodities during a state of emergency declared by the Governor, please register in advance with the Florida Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center (FLVBEOC) at www.flvbeoc.org.  If you have any questions, please contact the State Emergency Response Team’s Emergency Support Function 18 via the Private Sector Hotline at (850) 410-1403 or by email at esf18@em.myflorida.com.
